Bluetooth pairing

Bluetooth pairing is a built-in security process to ensure you are connecting to the correct device. The process generally involves viewing or using a PIN.

This should only be required once. However, the exact procedure may depend on the manufacturer, and “discoverable” mode is not always obvious.

The process is as follow:

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on both devices
  2. Set devices to discoverable so they can see each other
  3. Select discovered device
  4. Enter or confirm PIN
  5. Test connectivity

GPS

GPS requires at least 4 satellites in view in order to determine precise location. This is based on timing differences.

Navigation and location services are also enhanced by the utilization of GPS, WiFi and cellular towers.

MDM (Mobile Device Management)

This is a system that allows organizations to manage a fleet of devices via a centralized console. It allows the manager to set policies on apps, data, camera, etc. and may be established for complete control of the device or just a “partition” if necessary.

This can also be used for access control and configuration. It can be used to set up email, for example, where the user is not required to make any changes to the device - including entering things like account details, server addresses, comm methods, etc.

MDN may also be used to set up 2FA configuration.
